Why is pottery so much fun?
 

Have you ever fancied making your own mug? There’s something rather special about making a vessel with your own hands.

For thousands of years, clay has been shaped into pots, cups and bowls for cooking, eating and drinking.  When you make your own mug, you’re taking part in something people have been doing since ancient times. I think there’s something quite lovely about that, don’t you?
 

So, what happens at a workshop?

At our workshop, you’ll get to shape your own mug, play around with the form and add your own little touches to make it yours. The clay will be prepared and ready to work with, so you can get straight to the fun part without worrying about all the tricky bits.

I keep the groups small, so there’s plenty of time to help everyone along and make sure you get the most out of your time with clay.  I’ll be there to guide you, help when you get stuck and share a few tips from my own pottery-making adventures.

And the best part? You don’t have to be artistic or know what you’re doing. We’ll figure it out as we go along, have a bit of a play and see what happens. After all, it’s meant to be fun!

Don’t worry if your mug turns out a little wonky – that’s part of the charm! Just imagine having your morning cuppa in in a mug you made yourself! How lovely is that?

All you need is a little curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty!
